Prof. JADRAN LENARČIČ, PhD, Director of the Jožef Stefan Institute: Just a week’s worth of coffee for research

The realization that the “awareness of the role of science, research, creativity and knowledge in a broader sense has got lost or at least has been distorted in all societal subsystems, even science” should cut sharply into the minds of all who are in any way involved with development, the future of society and the constellation of social relations that are contingent on a different attitude to changes. Such changes are the inevitable result of societies that have new needs, new solutions and new thought paradigms. The concern with regard to the inflationary role of science in this context was expressed by Prof. JADRAN LENARČIČ, PhD, Director of the Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia’s largest scientific and research institution, in one of his public speeches.

Now running the Institute for his second term, Prof. Lenarčič has a PhD in Electrical Engineering, gaining worldwide recognition through his research in the field of robotics, mostly research involving biorobotics and humanoid robots. He is a lecturer at Slovenian universities and visiting lecturer at foreign establishments, occupying various positions in international organizations associated with science and research on account of his expertise. He was the initiator and leader of a series of symposia aimed at introducing the most recent results in the field of robotics.
